Formel+Skin is a Berlin-based skincare brand operating at the intersection of dermatology, beauty and personalised health. Founded in 2019, the company developed its model around science-backed skincare and a diagnostic process that combines skin imagery with individual treatment plans. With the opening of its Berlin flagship store, the brand extends this digital-first approach into a physical environment.
The new space is located on the ground floor of a contemporary residential building in Berlin-Mitte. Large street-facing windows create a direct connection between the interior and the city, allowing the store to function both as a retail destination and as a visible expression of the brand’s openness. Rather than approaching the interior as a conventional skincare boutique or medical clinic, the concept creates a hybrid environment: precise and professional, but also tactile and approachable. The project explores how a modern skincare brand can build trust not only through products and services, but through the atmosphere, sequence and organisation of space itself.
The architectural concept draws on three qualities associated with healthy skin: porosity, texture and elasticity. These qualities are not translated literally, but abstracted into perforated surfaces, tactile relief and fluid forms.
At the centre of the project is a large yellow object shaped like half of a plus. It stands within the room as the main architectural gesture: part wall, part display, part threshold. Its form gives the flagship store its identity while allowing the space to remain open and flexible. The object divides the interior into four connected zones: shop, reception, waiting room and skin-scan area. Product presentation, consultation and diagnostic moments are brought together around this central element, creating a customer journey that feels clear without becoming rigid.
